A Barbie Word...

I have learned many wrong theories of my childhood. When I read, the poetry, “The Doll” and “Barbie” article. It brought me as a flash back to my early years as a child. Barbie was hot for all the girls and Tonka the truck for the boys. Exactly as the book says, I suffered from the wrong concepts of being a “Barbie”
First, I’m a Latina; Barbie was a perfect American Caucasian. She got the perfect body, the perfect hair, gorgeous crystal blue eyes, and perfect world with a perfect husband which is Ken. As I remembered and as you know, most of the Latina women have brown eyes with some exceptions, and those exceptions were considered to be Barbie. We weren’t considered to be beautiful just because we weren’t close to Barbie. As a result, you are ugly.
There you go, everybody wants to be blonde and some people even put contact lens. Until everybody wake up because life is not a Barbie world and we can’t compete with her. Until Mattel had a little switched and introduced Latina, Black, Chinese and more which has helped those little girl self-esteem.
Teens, honestly if I ever come back to reincarnate again I would love to skip this stage. It’s so confusing because as a person, there a lot of lack of confident. Your self-esteem is under ground. Teens suffer through a lot of hormones, and physical changes. You are trying to compete with your peers and what you see in the magazines, movies, videos. Everything you do is for a shallow image and you are not yourself and you become a copy cat. As I remembered, I used to buy every teen magazine and I made sure to follow every single guidance just because I got to be cool.
When I read about the body & gender, the first thing the book describes was society patterns. Once again, people with a thin body…. Anorexic figures are hot! Ironic! These girls starve themselves with ridiculous diets of 250 calories maximum per day; leading to malnutrition, depression, and in some cases to death. Communication sources like magazines, television, and movies are the one to blame by brain washing those teens which are easy target for the business.
There is nothing wrong to be you, always love yourself for who you are because if you don’t love yourself, nobody will. We are our own reflect ion of who we are and in order to be love, we need to learn to love. We are real! Barbie is just a plastic doll!

For me?
Brunette, dark eyes, lots of fleshy bits (inside and outside), a healthy appetite (and a brain) ... thanks ....

I thought Latina beat barbie any time and black barbie would have very well toned muscles and a delightful figure I feel sure.
None of mine ever had a barbie, although my girls had dolls, they never showed any interest in barbie, neither did I.
Must have been a bit more liberated than most, love who you are.
I'm white but have never been all that concerned with the body, except as to how well it functions, give me a brain, anytime.
