Fiestas Patronales

Every year, each town celebrates patron saint festivals (fiestas
patronales) in honor of the area's patron saint. The festivities
include religious processions since they were originated as a Catholic
tradition. However, they have adopted other elements of African and

local origin. They also include games, regional food, music and dance.

Following is a list, ordered by date, of the festivals that are
celebrated in each town. The festivities last ten days, including the
date listed, and activities are held evenings on weekdays and all day
on weekends.

Famous Drink, Pina Colada

July 22nd 2008 13:00
Pina Colada
Pina Colada

I was a bartender at El San Juan Hotel & Casino and if you ever visit Puerto Rico. You have to taste this tropical delicious drink.

Ingridients:
3cl (one part) white rum (Bacardi)
3cl (one part) coconut cream
9cl (3 parts) pineapple juice
Heavy Cream if desired

Preparation:
Mix with crushed ice until smooth. Pour into chilled glass. Garnish and serve.

Enjoy!!!

History:

In Puerto Rico at the Caribe Hilton Hotel, claims that their bartender, Ramon "Monchito" Marrero created the piña colada on August 15, 1954 after spending 3 months perfecting the recipe. There is also a bar in Old San Juan that makes a similar claim.

Barrachina, a restaurant in Puerto Rico, also claims to be the birth place of the piña colada:

In 1963, on a trip to South America Mr Barrachina met another popular Spaniard and bartender Mr. Ramon Portas Mingot. Don Ramon has worked with the best places in Buenos Aires and associated with 'Papillon' the most luxurious bar in Carcao and was also recognized for his cocktail recipe books. Pepe Barrachina and Don Ramon developed a great relationship. While working as the main bartender at Barrachina (a restaurant in Puerto Rico), Ramon mixed pineapple juice, coconut cream, condensed milk and ice in a blender, creating a delicious and refreshing drink, known today as the Piña Colada.
Plaque in San Juan, Puerto Rico, commemorating Ramon Portas Mingot's creation of the beverage.

Anyway, the top most happiest country in the world title goes to Denmark. But boricuas on the island are happy too if you believe this report.
